This Girl Can is a Sport England nationwide campaign to inspire and empower women. It aims to get women and girls moving, regardless of their shape, size or ability.
Fear of judgement, lacking confidence, not having enough time - there are a whole host of practical and emotional barriers that prevent many women and girls from being more active.
This Girl Can, first launched in 2015, celebrates women and girls who are getting active and doing their thing no matter how they look, how well they do it, or how sweaty they get. The campaign, which is funded by the National Lottery, reminds women and girls that there is no 'right way' of getting active - if it gets your heart rate up, it counts! So whether it's cycling to work, literally running the school run, or getting muddy in the park, This Girl Can aims to celebrate all of the amazing ways that women manage to fit exercise into their busy lives.
The latest phase of the campaign, #FitGotReal was launched in October 2018 and seeks to challenge the idea of what conventional exercise looks like. It aims to inspire more women and girls to wiggle, jiggle and move in any way they can.
