Rachel Bond

Rachel and her mum Anita run The Fitness Unit in Ipswich and Rachel has more recently become a This Girl Can Ambassador who in a short period of time has already shown a huge passion and commitment for supporting women to become and stay active.

During lockdown when her gym business was forced to close, Rachel immediately adapted and moved her exercise classes online every day. As well as this she went above and beyond to provide her clients with extra support via coffee zoom chats, personal morale cards and set up 'self care Sunday's' over zoom which have hugely helped her clients physical and mental wellbeing.

One of her clients had this to say:

"Rachel is quite simply amazing; selfless , caring and kind. She always goes above and beyond and puts everyone else first . She has had significant barriers herself in terms of her physical health and family commitments but she just kept and still keeps going ! She loaned out gym equipment so training could carry on, via voice text, set a daily challenge for us, set up self care Sundays and posted out gifts to keep us positive and in touch with each other which was so important . Rachel also raised money through gym charity events and quizzes. She even celebrated our lockdown birthdays by sending balloons and banners in the post . Her support and warmth is never ending and she faces everything with a smile whilst wearing her positive gym pants!! She is definitely my lockdown hero and she deserves this recognition and achievement"

Rachel has not only worked tirelessly to improve her clients physical wellbeing she has also been a huge support mentally to her clients:

"The impact she has had on my physical and emotional well-being and health cannot be underestimated . It has been so tough for so many but she gave me a challenge and a focus to keep mentally and physically fit . I'm sure I speak for many. I am a key worker with a very stressful job and Rachel, without really realising, encouraged and provided me with positivity and structure when everything normal in my life had completely changed"

Well done Rachel, you have been a star and inspired so many!
