Active Suffolk Impact Report

2020-2021 Impact Report

Active Suffolk are delighted to share with you, our annual Impact Report. There is no doubt that 2020/2021 has been the most difficult and challenging year most of us have ever faced and it is with great pride we can look back over the year and highlight our small contribution the the Suffolk's response to the Coivd-19 pandemic. As well as supporting Local Authorities and other organisations whilst their staff were redeployed on other priorities, Active Suffolk have continued to provide support to individuals to become and remain active, distribute much needed funding to clubs and organisations and to support the workforce while many were furloughed or out of work.

CIMSPA's NEW Digital Marketing Hub

Sport England, together with funded partner CIMSPA, are excited to announce CIMSPA's new Digital Marketing Hub, which will be launching late summer 2021. It is aimed at helping anyone involved in sport and physical activity to boost their digital marketing skills and engage new participants or customers, as well as re-engage their existing membership, to support the recovery and return to play. The hub is a completely free to access learning platform and will include on-demand courses and bite size modules, live webinars from inspirational speakers and the opportunity to connect and learn from peers.

It follows a survey completed by over 1000 people from a huge range of frontline providers and organisations involved in sport and physical activity who have helped us to shape the support it offers. With 81% of respondents saying that attracting new participants is very or extremely important to them, digital marketing skills can play a key role in supporting the nation's activity levels.

If you choose, you can now register your interest in signing up to the CIMSPA platform here. By registering, you'll be the first to know when the hub is live to secure access, sign up for the webinars and hear further announcements about what the hub will offer. So please register your interest now, and share with any colleagues or people in your networks that you think would benefit from this fantastic opportunity.

Please note, the Digital Marketing Hub is run and operated by CIMSPA and so your registration will be subject to its privacy statement, terms and conditions.

Sport England Return to Play Small Grants Fund

This £15 million fund focuses on awards of up to £10,000 that support clubs and community groups respond to the challenges of returning to play during the coronavirus pandemic and getting people active for the first time after it. This could include contributing to covering the costs incurred by having to deliver activity in smaller groups than normal, or having the correct hygiene and safety equipment.

Sport England particularly encourage applications from organisations working with communities who've suffered worse health outcomes and the most significantly reduced activity levels as a result of the pandemic. Their insight currently shows this to be girls and women, young people aged 16-24 and older people aged 70+.

The programme will remain open until the end of 2021, so if you think your club/organisation could benefit from a small grant and you fit the criteria above please CLICK HERE for more information and how to apply

Do you want to be a volunteer and be part of the HSBC UK Guided Ride or Breeze Programme?

We're looking for hundreds of people across the UK to join our team of Ride Leaders and inspire more people to get out on their bikes, find new places and have fun!

You don't need to be a cycling expert or competitive racer, just be confident riding in a group, have a good level of cycling fitness and great communication skills. We welcome all kinds of cyclists, especially those with bundles of enthusiasm! If you're happy to support those new and returning to cycling after a number of years, whether they are 5 or 105 years old, we would love you to join us as a volunteer.

What is the difference between Breeze and Guided Rides?

The award-winning Breeze programme is a led ride programme delivered by women for women. The rides on offer cater for different levels of experiences and abilities, but are particularly suitable for those starting out or returning to cycling. The aim is simple: to help break down the barriers for women to take part.

Guided Rides is suitable for all and aims to get the whole family out on their bikes and having fun together. The rides on offer cater for all different levels of fitness and abilities but are particularly suitable to those starting out or returning to cycling and families looking for their next adventure.

Why should I volunteer?

  •   To gain new skills, knowledge and experiences
  •   To give something back to your local community and help others
  •   To meet new people and make new friends
  •   To be part of a 2,000 strong volunteer team across the UK
  •   To make a positive impact on another person's life, directly or indirectly
  •   To use your skills to benefit others

What do I get in return for volunteering?

  •   Free Ride Leadership Award Level 1 course
  •   Free 30-days access to British Cycling Learning
  •   Free 3-hour first aid course through British Red Cross or a £25 reimbursement towards another suitable course
  •   Free British Cycling Ride Membership
  •   Free branded kit on completion of the course and delivery of your first ride
  •   Ongoing support from the British Cycling Recreation and Regional teams
  •   Fortnightly newsletters to keep you up to date with everything from HSBC UK Breeze or Guided Rides

What is required from me?

All we ask from you is to deliver a minimum of eight HSBC UK Guided Rides or Breeze Rides a year.

How do I get involved?
