Mental Health Awareness

Training & CPD

UK Coaching – in collaboration with its awarding organisation 1st4sport, and partners Mind, the mental health charity, and Sport England – have recently released an updated version of the popular eLearning course Mental Health Awareness in Sport and Physical Activity.

Now more than ever having an awareness of mental health problems is vital. Along with partners they are continuing with the reduced cost of this course by over 30% and so it is available at £12 (instead of the initial RRP of £18). UK Coaching Subscribers continue to enjoy a 33% discount on the course.

Whilst the learning outcomes haven't altered in this updated version, it has been given a fresh new look and some additions made to enhance the eLearning experience of the course and make it more inclusive. New information has also been added on borderline personality disorder (within Module 1).

Fore more information on the course and to book a place please see the UK Coaching website

The forgotten guideline: Strength Messaging Insight Webinar

Thursday 11 March, 10:30am – Midday

Sport England have been working with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and Centre for Ageing Better to explore the role staff can play in supporting people with long-term conditions to do strengthening activity following research that shows there are very low levels of awareness and uptake at population level. Equally, there is very little insight into the most effective messages to influence behaviour around strengthening activity and a lack of real-world experience in testing these with target audiences.

As a result Sport England will be hosting a webinar on 11th March from 10:30 - 12:00 where a summary of the findings will be shared, including:

  •   patient perceptions and barriers towards strengthening activity
  •   the challenges physio's face when providing strengthening advice
  •   insight informed creative concept development
  •   recommendations for effective messaging approaches and;
  •   project next steps
