Hello,
We hope you and everybody at your school are continuing to stay safe and well, especially as we deal with a second national lockdown. Although schools will remain
open this time, we recognise that this may bring additional challenges for you as teachers, so we want to ensure we continue to support you and your school.
In this edition we share an important update regarding the annual Suffolk Primary PE conference, links to key documents that can
help to guide your school through the second lockdown, and opportunities for your school to take part in some fun and festive challenges.
Lastly, we share details of how your school could be in with the chance of receiving £300 towards PE & Sports equipment through supporting our
children & Young People survey, plus discover more about the new PE & Sports Premium guidance from Department for Education.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
Annual Primary PE, School Sport & Physical Activity Conference
|
Due to the everchanging restrictions caused by Covid-19, we have decided to change the way we deliver our traditional annual Primary PE conference, by hosting a
series of 3 Primary PE, School Sport & Physical Activity Learning Events spread across this academic year. The learning events will be shorter
as opposed to one full day out of school in the hope they will be more accessible for you, given the current circumstances.
The first event will take place virtually on Thursday 19th November at 3:30-5:00pm and will focus on Active Learning with a webinar
delivered by Teach Active based upon:
'How Active Learning is Transforming Maths and English & Covid-19 - Active Learning within government guidelines'

What the new lockdown measures mean for CYP & Schools...
The DfE have published further guidance for schools and updated this in line with the second national lockdown, recognising the importance for children to remain fit
and active and, wherever possible, have the 60 active minutes of daily physical activity as recommended. Other guidance includes:
Schools have the flexibility to decide how physical education, sport and physical activity will be provided whilst following the measures in their system
of controls.
Activities such as active miles, making break times and lessons active and encouraging active travel help to enable pupils to be physically active
while encouraging physical distancing.

Fun & Festive Activities
The British Heart Foundation Christmas Elf Kick
|
Here at Active Suffolk, we know there has never been a more important time for children to focus on their health and wellbeing. 2020 has been a very
difficult year for teachers and pupils, so the British Heart Foundation have created a new initiative that encourages children to get 'fitter and elfier'
this Christmas and have some festive fun in a completely Covid friendly way.
The BHF Christmas Elf Kick is a series of 12 fitness and wellbeing challenges that your pupils can take part in, during December. The exercises are
all Christmas themed, suitable for social distancing and last no longer than 10 minutes each. They have been designed so staff can fit them into
any point of the school day. No equipment is required for any of the challenges, just yours-elves!
If you'd like to take part, please contact Jennifer Townsend at townsendj@bhf.org.uk who can provide full
details to your school.
