Nominations for the Active Suffolk Awards are OPEN!

Active Suffolk are pleased to announce that the nomination period for this year's Active Suffolk Awards have now opened, inviting local people to submit their choices for ten exciting award categories, which will be presented at a prestigious event on Friday 18th November from Trinity Park in Ipswich.

The event which is entering its fifteenth year will celebrate local individuals, teams, communities, volunteers, professionals, and schools across the county who have overcome adversity through participation in sport and physical activity, been successful in their chosen sporting discipline or who have contributed towards supporting the people of Suffolk to be more active regardless of age, ability, or inequalities.

The ten award categories up for nomination include:

  • Sports Personality of the Year
  • Young Sports Personality of the Year
  • Active Unsung Hero
  • Active Community of the Year
  • Activity Champion of the Year
  • Active Club of the Year
  • Active Primary School of the Year
  • Active Secondary School of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • Innovative Project of the Year.

The nomination period will be open until Friday 30th September. Following this, a judging panel which consists of stakeholders from across the sports, leisure, education, and health sector in Suffolk will shortlist and make a final decision on the winners, all of which will be announced at the ceremony in November.

Tony Bush, Head of Operations at Active Suffolk:

"We are incredibly excited and proud to be hosting the Active Suffolk Awards again this year.

We continued to give recognition and celebrate those who deserved it across the county during the pandemic via online campaigns, however there is something very special about bringing people together for a celebratory event.

The event is always very memorable, and it is a date in the calendar which we have missed terribly.

Given the talent and dedication amongst local people in Suffolk to inspire and support communities to be active, we believe it will undoubtedly be a challenge for our judging panel, however we urge you to submit your nominations and we look forward to receiving these over the new few weeks."

The event supporters BBC Radio Suffolk will be presenting the winners of each category at the ceremony in November, whilst the event would not be possible without the following sponsors: Places Leisure, Babergh & Mid Suffolk Council, East Suffolk Council, Everyone Active, Ipswich Borough Council, Larking Gowen, University of Suffolk and Abbeycroft Leisure.
