East Suffolk Council are undertaking a piece of research to better understand the current and future provision for open spaces, outdoor sports facilities and indoor built facilities in the area.

They have commissioned management consultancy Knight, Kavanagh & Page (KKP) to carry out a leisure strategy comprising of an open space, outdoor sports facilities and indoor built facilities assessments in the area, which will result in the production of a Leisure Strategy.

It will involve carrying out a comprehensive audit and assessment of the supply and demand issues of all open spaces (and playing pitches (e.g. football, rugby, cricket, bowls, tennis) and indoor facilities (e.g. sports halls and swimming pools). It will include all facilities whether managed within the public, private and voluntary sector.

The assessments will identify local need for provision within East Suffolk District and will serve as an evidence base that will ultimately help inform future strategic planning and any investment priorities for open space, outdoor and built sports facilities across the District. It will also give clubs and communities additional evidence to support any future funding bids they might be making.
