Nominations open for the Suffolk Sports Awards 2019 on Thursday 12th September 19

Nominations will be open for the 2019 Suffolk Sports Awards on Thursday 12th September which will be held at Kesgrave Hall, Milsoms on Friday 15th November.

Active Suffolk is delighted to announce that Harrod Sport will once again be the main sponsor of the awards, which will also be supported by media partner BBC Radio Suffolk.

The Suffolk Sports Awards are designed to reward and celebrate individual excellence, team achievement as well as recognise those people who work tirelessly 'behind the scenes'… our unsung sporting heroes!

As well as the Sports Personality of the Year award, other categories that can receive public nominations are the Young Sports Personality of the Year; Unsung Hero; Club of the Year; Team of the Year; Coach of the Year, Primary School PE & Sport Premium Impact Award and Secondary School of the Year.

Molly Spring, Sales and Marketing Coordinator at Harrod Sport said: "We are delighted that we were asked to be the main sponsors of the Suffolk Sports Awards 2019. We are proud to have been a sponsor for 14 years since the beginning. Throughout the years we have been fortunate enough to meet many talented athletes within the Suffolk region, and we are honoured to be able to follow their sporting journeys."

Once again the public will be able to vote from the shortlisted nominations and these votes will be combined with the judging panel selections to decide the winners of each category, to be announced at the Awards ceremony.

There will also be two special awards presented by the industry on the night – The Lifetime Achievement Award and the Elena Baltacha Award, named in honour of the Suffolk tennis star, which recognises outstanding commitment to sport in the face of adversity and shows the positive outcome and difference that sport can make to someone's life.

Tony Bush, Head of Operations at Active Suffolk said: "I am really pleased to announce the launch of this year's Suffolk Sports Awards. I would encourage all members of the public in Suffolk, who know an individual or a team that you feel deserves to be recognised, to nominate them for an award. The people who do so much to make this County successful often go unsung and they deserve to be celebrated".

He continued "A massive thank you must go to all our sponsors of the Suffolk Sports Awards, without their support the awards process simply wouldn't happen."

If you know of someone that you think deserves to be recognised or rewarded for their sporting achievements and hard work, you are encouraged to submit your nomination by going to Nominations close on Thursday 26th Sept.
