Do you enjoy talking about sport and those memorable sporting moments you watched or even participated in? Then why not get involved in our Sporting Memories Network by hosting a Group in your Sports Pavilion or Village Hall?
What is a Sporting Memories Group?
From the World Cup heroes of '66 to the local characters and achievements of village sports clubs, many of us have great memories of sporting events, and our sporting interests have been an enjoyable part of our lives.
Sporting Memories, in partnership with Suffolk Sport's Fit Villages project, is bringing together anyone over the age of 50 to talk about sport and their recollections of those individual, special sporting occasions. Sporting Memories "supporters" use collections of photo's, images, film, games, quizzes and memorabilia to engage people in conversation, reminiscence, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and even enjoy a little Fit Villages gentle exercise at the end of the session! So, if you love sport, and love talking about sport, this is for you!
Above all Sporting Memories is about having fun and building friendships and along with all over 50's we welcome those older people who may live with memory loss, depression or feel isolated. The 1 to 2 hour session is free of charge and tea and coffee will be available.
When is it starting?
We'd love to start a regular group in your local area but we do need some supporters to help the session run smoothly. All our volunteers receive training and ongoing support, and of course love talking sport! As soon as we have a supporter we can start a group!
If you think there are people in your village and surrounding areas that would enjoy getting together for Sporting Memories then please get in touch.
