A new Volunteer Recruitment website for Suffolk

Posted: Tue, 20 Dec 2016 08:00

"Volunteer Suffolk" is a new volunteering database and website to advertise volunteering roles in Suffolk, helping local organisations to recruit volunteers. It will launch in early 2017, and is run by Community Action Suffolk (CAS). The Volunteering Team at CAS have been busy showcasing the new service at free events across Suffolk and providing training on the new system. It aims to offer both organisations and potential volunteers a user-friendly service to access volunteering opportunities across Suffolk.

"We are excited to launch this new, simple online volunteering service. Volunteer Suffolk will offer people instant and simple access to available volunteering opportunities in Suffolk. Suffolk's charities and voluntary organisations will benefit from improved access to advertise and manage their opportunities easily." By owning this service, CAS can respond quickly to support requests. As CAS has created this service specifically for Suffolk, it will give us greater insight into volunteering in the county. We will be able to monitor and share data about volunteering activity in Suffolk. We hope that this simple and joined up approach will benefit everyone."Carolyn Shaw, Volunteering Manager at CAS.

What does this mean for Suffolk's Sports Clubs and Events?

This new website is such an exciting development for all volunteering activity in the county and of course for us at Suffolk Sport, supporting sport and activity clubs, groups and events. "We know that 7 out of 10 clubs need more volunteers" Kathryn James, Volunteer Lead at Suffolk Sport and in the past groups have not really known which platform or website to use to advertise volunteer opportunities so we want to fully endorse www.volunteersuffolk.org.uk as the go to place for Suffolk clubs to post opportunities in the future. The site is not due to launch until the New Year but you can get ahead and upload your opportunities now in readiness for the site launch. We are encouraging as many groups as possible to do this so that it hosts a full and varied selection of opportunities for volunteers to search. There will be a big launch in January so what better time for your club/sporting event or activity to take advantage of the publicity it will receive.

CAS are running events to demonstrate "Volunteer Suffolk" at locations across the county in the coming months. Places are free and can be booked online below:
